Watch me grow!

6.21.12

4 months old!

June 2012

6.1.12
Our first Redbirds game of the season.
Owen's very first baseball game.
Matt says "one of many more"
We went to the game with friends and youth from church.
While we were there, we saw cousin Josh and Cecily.
They were having a "date" to give mom a rest with new baby sister Eloise at home.
My friend Lindsay, bottom right, had her baby girl at the beginning of May.
We joked that it was their 2nd date.

6.5.12
Lunch and Paint a Piece date with my girl Carsyn.
She and her family moved to hot lanta in the middle of June.
We had been meeting up for almost a year to hang out, pray together, and study the book of Philippians.
We were all so sad to lose such a sweet family in our church.
We've said it many time but it is oh so true.
Our loss was Atlanta's gain.

6.12.12
Owen's first Zoo trip!
I'm not sure he was really aware of where we were at but he
certainly loved being outside and with the other kiddos from church.

6.14.12
Owen and Eloise "officially" meet
Sweet cousins barely 3 months apart

6.15-6.16.12
South Wood's DNOW weekend
Owen and I got to spend the weekend with some pretty awesome girls.
It was a great time of fellowship and diving into Tim Keller's book The Gospel in Life, learning what God's word has to say about our hearts and the idols that make their home there. It was a great introduction.  The youth have since been working their way through Keller's book on Wednesday evenings.

6.16.12
After DNOW we hopped in the car and made our way to Sparta to spend a few days.
Our first stop was Matt's parents house on Saturday evening.
The boys played football, we had yummy steaks, and Owen played on his
quilt Grandmama hand quilted for him.

6.17.12
Father's Day!
We headed to Gum Springs Sunday morning to worship in our home church.
It was wonderful to see people we haven't had the chance to see in awhile.  It was sweet for Owen to meet everyone as well.  How fun for Owen to finally be in the place I grew up!

6.18.12
After a lovely Sunday spent with Matt's family, we headed to Ragland Bottom on Monday to spend some time with  my family. My parents were camping for the week and it worked out perfectly for when we were going to be home. I was so glad we got to spend a few days on the lake with them.
Everyone was thrilled to spend a little time with O.
Gran and Pops even bought Owen his first camping chair. So Cute.
We left Owen with Gran at the camper and all the big kids went out on the lake.
Matt and Justin tubed and Annie took her first swim in the lake!

That evening my Mawma came over for dinner.
She had yet to meet Owen so it was fun to introduce Owen to my precious Mawma.
Uncle Justin always loves a little Owen time.  It is rare these days!

Dad and Mom fixed us a yummy catfish dinner and we celebrated Father's Day with him a day late.
It was such a great time.  Aunt Brenda even came to join us and meet Owen.
Catfish dinner with your daddy by the lake. Nothing much better than that.
I am thankful for 24 wonderful years of being his daughter!
Love you  Pops!
6.19.12
Another day on the lake.
Matt and I went out on the water with Dad to set some limb lines.
We had a great time catching bait fish for Dad. I bet we caught 12-15 little fish.
Bottom Right: Matt feel off the boat trying to fetch a limb line. Luckily he is graceful and jumped onto the ledge instead of in the water. Although, the next day he wasn't so lucky.  Ask his phone. Who spent the next 3 days in a bag of rice....to no avail.

After a fun day on the water, we had dinner with friends and family.
Lauren and Granny got a little more Owen time.

This kid loves being outside.
Looks like this momma is going to have to learn to love it a little more too.

He weighed in at 14 lbs and 5 oz, 24 1/2 inches long.

May 2012

May 8-10
Aunt Hannah and Uncle Justin came to visit and spend some time with O.

May 11-13
My parents, Granny, and Pa came to spend the weekend.  It was our anniversary and mothers day weekend.  They came to keep Owen so we could get away and celebrate 5 years of marriage!!
Above: first pictures of meeting Granny Betty and Pa J.C.

May 12, 2012
Our 5 year anniversary!

We didn't go far (1st time mommy jitters) but my sweet and thoughtful husband planned us a very romantic evening getaway in downtown Memphis.
We had the most delicious dinner at Flight! We tried many new meats and had such an enjoyable dining experience.  I highly recommend Flight for special occasions or a nice dinner.
Matt booked us a beautiful corner room on the top floor of the Double Tree hotel downtown.
It was such a special and relaxing evening. I even got to sleep through the night.  The whole night!!
Saturday morning we slept in, had a yummy breakfast at The Brass Door, took a trolly ride, and then headed home to see our sweet baby.
I love his precious man and I am so thankful for 5 blessed years with him.  He is a most undeserved gift.

5.13.12
Mother's Day
Very thankful for these 4 generations!
I am blessed.
5.13.12
My 1st mothers day!
Owen bought me a rocking chair for the back porch.

Wednesday evening at church
Owen wore his elephant hat
Top Left: Sweet little girlies at church. They are big Owen fans.

We like to spend Dad's lunch break out on the porch.
He plays and sings to Owen.  O loves loves loves it!
Top Right: Cousin Cecily came to visit.

Meeting cousin Noah for the 1st time.
Owen's pediatrician and the NICU strongly advised us to not have any school aged children around Owen until after RSV season was over (mid May).
That meant cousin Noah got a little left out :(
He was a real trooper and never complained about it.  Sweet cousin.
I think they are going to be great friends!

5.18.12
Baby Smith and Baby Wise shower at our home.
2 family members were having sweet girls this summer. Although it was the 2nd baby for both, I think every baby deserves a celebration! We had dinner and gifts and a grand time.

5.18.12
After party fun!

5.19.12
Meeting Nola V just a few days before her 102nd birthday!
Precious memories!

Long time friends Michael and Alyx came to visit us on Memorial day weekend.
We had the most wonderful time with them! Saturday night we went downtown to the Rendezvous and Sunset Symphony on the river. Michael and Alyx are expecting their first baby in November! It was such a blessing to be able to celebrate and talk about their soon to come baby boy!
Love you guys!

5.27.12

Owen and Eloise are just 3 short months apart.

April 2012

April 1, 2012
This was Owen's due date.
40 weeks old today.
In honor of your due date, we dressed you in a Sunday suit.
You were not a fan.

Sweet little boy in overalls.
You were not a fan of my picture taking.
Bottom Right: A little tummy time...not a fan of that either.

Easter Weekend 4.7.12
Grandmama and Granddaddy came for a visit

4.8.12
Owen's first Easter

4.17.12
First outing to Shelby Farms!!
Your pediatrician didn't want you to go outside of the house for over 6 weeks.
The air quality was just too poor for your itty bitty lungs.
I was so thrilled to be able to exercise!

Left: Evening time with Daddy
Rights: Laying on a quilt our neighbors the Wards (who have since moved :( )
gave you after you came home from the hospital.
You love to lay and look out the living room window.

Nana and Aunt Sylvia came for a visit!

My one and only rose bush.
It had a few blooms this year

When Owen is fussy in the afternoons, Matt takes him for a walk in the backyard.
He loves being outside.
What a sweet daddy.

April 21-23
Our church's 25th Anniversary Celebration/Conference!
My parents came for the weekend to help me and keep Owen so I could go to the Anniversary Conference.
Friday evening we hosted our guest speakers Dr. Andy Davis, Dr. Tom Nettles, and Pastor Todd Wilson, along with other church staff and pastoral interns.  I was grateful to have everyone in our home and to finally be able to do something "normal".
